About this challenge

Challenge for: all

Challenge goal: increase strength

Challenge targets: upper body

Level: suitable for all competitors

Age: any age

What does this challenge involve?

This is a new hardcore challenge designed to push your body to its maximum limits. The kettlebell must be no less than 20 kgs (44lbs), and the objective is to do as many reps as you can, lactic acid and muscle failure acts very fast on this beauty of an exercise. The heavier the weight relative to your body weight, the higher your score, but don't go too high or you won't do the reps!

The bench must be fully back so that the head is only a couple of inches off the floor. The kettlebell must come down in line with the shoulders and to near full lock at the top. The kettlebells are more of a challenge than the standard dumbbells, and should provide more resistance. Great for the biceps, chest, shoulders, upper back. It's an overall cardio blaster which will add an extra dimension to your upper body workouts.

  • Thank you Phil, I try and make them as hard as possible..This is a true test of bodyweight to power ratio..and with the decline element thrown in, it makes the execution of the exercise that tad more difficult to bash out really high numbers. Keep up the great work as always mate...

  • Thom, I had to have it pointed out to me that my 7 is an awesome score, am going to give this another try as I have started an entirely new strength and conditioning programme over the past 2 weeks and the results are phenominal...done 32 earlier but didnt video...set a new standard on the dumbell row about 10 mins back...3.58 is tremendous my friend and keep up the great work, you are a great athlete...

  • I saw this challenge and thought I might finally be able to beat one of Ged's scores when I saw he had 7!!! Little did I know that this takes into account bodyweight / reps and weight of kb. turns out 7 is another unbeatable score - back to the drawing board :)

  • Cheers Andy though one thing I noticed was the low score I had considering the weight against the reps and KB weight..I was hoping for a score formula similar to the one arm rows...hmmm....kettlebells are very much the in thing, could've done dumbbells but I find they are much easier to press than the KB's, that's why I chose the KB's over the dumbbells mate...just a different variant..
