What does this challenge involve?

Here's a simple test of strength and endurance. Think you can perform the human flag longer than anyone else? Here's your chance to show off. I would recommend filming your attempt to avoid the disbelief of other competitors.

  • First of all, I would recommend that you you train the muscles that you use for this exercise. You should be able to do at least do 15 pull ups and be able to press your body weight over your head, as in a military press. You also need very strong obliques, hip abductors, and hip adductors. Do some heavy dumbbell side bends and don't be afraid to use the hip machines at the gym, at least while your training for this. When you think you've got the strength, find a street sign or park playground where you can give it a shot. Even if you can't do it at first keep kicking your legs up and lower your legs as slowly as possible. Eventually you'll get to the point where you can hold yourself up for a few seconds. Training is easy from that point forward.
